After a terrible global warming incident, most cities of the world are below sea level. Furthermore World War III had brought immense destruction and trauma to al. After all the disasters, many mecha organizations are formed to protect cities from terrorism.

Most terrorist attacks involved robots and unnatural floods. Reasons for their attacks evolved with each episodes.

The story revolves around a mecha organisation known as Arqon Global Daiva City responsible in protecting a thriving city known as Fort Daiva City. Arqon Global creates a special unit known as Viper led special soldiers known as Blademen. Not only in defending the city from terrorist attacks they also involved in crime preventions and any threat on the city dwellers.Sakurako is one of Viper elit female member.

Though dislikes by other female members of the group but she manage to befriend the aloof Saiki who is the best Blademen in Viper. Haruki is the protected son of the Arqon Global president. Though he tried so hard to be involved in Viper and refusing special treatments. There are also the quite Telesia and Ulla Chiaki who belongs to an underground group called Hound.

Viper’s Creed or Vaipazzu Kuriddo is an anime series belonging in the mecha genre. Produced by Sony Pictures Japan together with AIC Spirits and Digital Frontier. Directed by Hiroyuki Kanbe who are also famous for Flame of Recca anime and concept created by Shinji Aramaki who does the work on Wolf Rain.

Anime fan would not be disappointed as this anime is based on Sony Pictures high quality standard.

Ibuki Keita is a high school student who is also a freelance computer programmer. Orphaned since his mother died he always finds himself in financial difficulties. Yet his childhood friend, Sano Akane are always there to help him out.

One day, while eating ramen he somehow saved a Tera Guardian or a being with celestials powers. Keita lost his left arm and the Tera Guardian named Kuro replaced his hand with her own. This is because she is capable of regeneration if needed. But that also create a contract between her and Keita.

Now finding himself embroiled in a conflict between Tera Guardians, Keita must choose his own path. Somewhat dragging Akane into his problem. And later finding out the truth behind his mother mysterious death.

Black God or Kurokami had been produced in manga form by mangaka pair, Lim Dai Young and Park Sung Woo. Then published in Young Gangan under Square Enix.

The background of the story started in Tokyo and then moved to Okinawa Island. The anime adaptation was done by Sunrise Studio and shown in January 2008 in Japan, United States and South Korea.

Seven years after the incident in Racoon City , Claire Redfield is now a member of Terrasave, a specialized organization that handle search and rescue in the case of chemical and biological attack. Claire went to Harvardville Airport to meet up with a friend. There she encountered a man who seems to have the T-Virus symptom and soon he started to become a zombie. So those more people in the airport.

Claire finds herself trapped with a few survivors, she soon becomes embroiled in another incident similar to Raccoon City. And the knowledge that Umbrella Corporation had been reincarnated in the form of WilPharma. A few character came into the story. Angela Miller and Greg Glenn, two agent from the Special Response Team. Leon S. Kennedy, an experienced agent who assist the two. Curtis Miller, who has a deep hatred towards Umbrella Corporation. A mysterious Fred Downing and Senator Davis, who was also trapped with Claire.

Resident Evil: Degeneration or Biohazard: Degeneration, for the Japanese version, is a computer generated animation produced based on the popular Resident Evil / Biohazard game by Capcom. Announced on October 2007, it was finally shown at Tokyo Game Show exactly a year later. Unlike the previous, Resident Evil franchise starred by Mila Jovovich, the new animated version is based on the videogame storyline which goes well with fans of the game.

After being killed mercilessly with her family, Hoshimura Makina was found by Kagami Ouri at a temple. Ouri, a strange young man who had the tendency to encounter the undead, heard a cat telling him that Makina is still alive but is also an undead, zombie or Shikabane. After being saved, Makina agreed to become the Corpse Princess together with a mysterious Kougon Cult.

Not only she agreed because she was 'saved' but she also want to seek revenge on the clandestine organization that killed her family. Makina was required to hunt 108 zombies to find out what she needs to know and to get her undead soul to heaven. Assisted by an old friend, Kagami Keisei, Makina find herself into a world she never knew. Things becomes complicated when Ouri, who is also Keisei younger brother find out that his brother held a big dark secret that involved the Shikabane.

Shikabane Hime or Corpse Princess is based on a manga by Akahito Yoshiichi. Produced for two seasons with 13 episodes each, it was aired in channel AT-X in Japan in October 2008 and the second season in January 2009.

Death Note – The Manga.

When Obata Takeshi and Oba Tsugumi sensei created this manga after a successful run with Hikaru No Go, nobody actually knew how to describe it. It doesn’t really falls into any category. The closest it was under the Shonen category though one of the main male protagonist in Death Note doesn’t really have that usual ‘decent goal’ that he wanted to achieve or the underlying ‘fight for good’ motto. Such as the heavily Shonen coated themed like Naruto, Bleach or EyeShield 21. Yet it gained millions of fans both in Japan and internationally.

Its uniqueness pushed the two sensei to a new level, creating a different genre, gaining legions of fans and cemented their partnerships as versatile mangakas.

Not many knew that Death Note actually started with a oneshot about a similar book and a young boy who causes some of his classmates to die. Yet in the short story nobody actually died in the end as the book allows names to be erased and in turns bringing the dead to life. The book was burnt then by the investigating officers after its existence was proven.

I think that short story gained some good feedback that prompted Oba sensei to write another longer series and this time he brought the complexities and strategies of the Go / Othello game into Death Note.

Revolve around an intelligent high school boy who came upon a mysterious book titled Death Note dropped by a very bored Death God, Reuk. The boy, Yagami Raito starts to use it to bring his own brand of justice. Giving criminals deadly heart attacks. Punishing those who had escaped convictions. Gaining approval from people who believed that he stands for justice. The same people named him Kira or ‘Killer’.

For a while, it was an easy ride for him as he played hide and seek with the police. But it becomes a dangerous game when an international well known investigator comes into the picture. The mysterious investigator known only as L quickly pinpoint Kira’s whereabout and even manage to put Raito in the most suspected list.

The beauty of this manga are the cat and mouse games being played between two enemies who happened to respect each other. Oba and Obata sensei manage to weave a story both intricate yet entertaining with many unexpected turn of events.

Death Note also prompted readers to think on whether Kira’s action were justified. Does anybody has the right to take somebody life in the name of justice? Again and again those question were being asked even by police officers who are investigating Kira.

And L simplified it all by saying “I just want to catch a criminal.”

Then after the success of the first part, Death Note fast forward a few years later. Though, personally, I felt the second part was a let down. Even as the story becomes more complicated, the ‘fire’ that was the heart of Death Note was diminished early.

It brings new characters in and even more pawns for Kira to play with. And I had to reread the ending a few times to really understand how the story reaches its closure.

I think a lot of Death Note fans agree with me. This is evident in its anime series and also the three movies that showcase only the first part of Death Note. And fan fictions, doujinshis and other fan based creations are mostly revolves around L and Kira. Even fangirls (and fanboys) can’t help but create slash or romantic pairing between the two.

And the sugar loving L would remained one of the most fascinating manga character ever to grace the manga world.

Loveless - The Anime Series

How do I start with this anime? It’s hard to put it under any categories but it was one of the most memorable anime series I’ve ever watched. Created by one Kouga Yun; the same Sensei who was behind the popular Earthian in the 80’s, Loveless have some of the characteristics that does not falls into any particular mould.

Like the battle spell, the shedding of cat like ears and tails while the timeline set in a current time Japan. Plus the beautiful graphic and the airy theme that the anime team decided to use compliment the storyline well.

The story revolves around Aoyagi Ritsuka who upon the mysterious death of his older brother Seimei finds himself in a rather strange situations. Transferred to a new school he was confronted by his older brother friend, Agatsuma Soubi, a mysterious adult who keeps spouting love to the young Ritsuka.

Only when after the first spell battle, Ritsuka came to know about Soubi being Seimei former Fighter and his newly appointed Fighter and the fact that he is a Sacrifice. And finding out that he have a special name, Loveless which means the one without love.

The plot follows Ritsuka effort to unravel Seimei death and his frustrations of Soubi who knows something yet refuse to tell him anything.

Though the spell battles were usually the most interesting parts of episodes but I found most intriguing were the underlying stories that were told in little bits and pieces. Kouga Yun sensei created a jigsaw puzzle with the small pieces given one at a time. Ritsuka loss of memory, his mother seemingly unstable mind, Soubi past and his relationship with Seimei. At the same time it tackles the issue of love, in the forms of friendship, family and in ‘Loveless’, destiny by being born with the same name.

Though the story borders a little bit on boys love and made all the fangirls go ‘kyaaa’ it wasn’t too overbearing that it can also be accepted by non-shonen ai fans. All and all it is a good watch for those who love beautiful graphic, good but not so heavy plot, melodramatic yet not so sad. An anime worth collecting especially if you’re a big shounen-ai fans.

Being a yaoi fan

I can’t help it. I’m an avid yaoi fan. I probably go ‘kawaii’ if I ever saw two Saiyuki cosplayer kissing each other. I’m a fangirl that got turn on by reading Sen and Swordfish of Under Grand Hotel getting on with each other. Or the ever loving Iwaki and Kato having lovers quarrel over the slightest things. And the hot make out session that follows afterward.

“>_< Call me a pervert but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying hardcore yaoi or just fluffy shounen ai.

Yep, fine, I’m a yaoi fan. Though its not as easy as saying that I’m a closeted geek (say Otaku everybody!) or an avid blogger that writes about anything. But telling your Mom that you write fan fictions about two extremely hot guys being lovey dovey…

Ergh…not going to happen.

Telling your so-called dates that you actually like reading about two manga character being uke or seme would probably raise an eyebrow or two. Unless the other guy is an avid fanboy, there would probably be no repeat date.

Still imagining a cute bishounen going ‘kimochi’ make my life a little more colourful.

Ah…the life of a closeted yaoi fan.

But it’s not something I’m ashamed of. Its just something I’m not good at explaining about.

“Hey best friend, you know, its kinda beautiful seeing two guys making out in unreal life.”

Not going to happen.

And yeah my best friend thinks I’m quite ‘strange’. But as my best friend, she keeps her opinion to herself and love me anyway. Secretly, I do think she goes ‘kawaii!’ once a while.

Be warned, fan girls are everywhere and its breeding faster than rabbits. Faster than any old school anime lover would ready to admit. We are hiding behind luscious looking avatar and sexy fan fictions, ready to pounce on unsuspecting kouhai. And bring them to the dark side.

Aye aye! More and more fangirls all over the world are coming out of the closet. Especially knowing full well in Japan, being a fangirl is as normal as being a fan of Orlando Bloom. And reading a full fledge yaoi manga on a crowded train is as normal as reading Harper Bazaar.
And it is normal and totally cool being a hot real life bishounen wearing tinted lip gloss and a well shaped eyebrows. Forget metrosexuals. They should learn a thing or two from the real beautiful guys.

Now that would make us fangirls screaming for more. More of Gojyo and Sanzo of Saiyuki. More of Naruto Sasuke pairing. Or lamenting that Death Note Sensei should bring back L and Raito back to life.

Not forgetting the classic HanaRu pairing of Slam Dunk. Or Naoya and Reiji of Love Mode.

Aye! Aye! Long live fangirls!

Voices of A Distant Star - The Anime Movie

This anime actually won several prestigious anime award and was deemed done by an anime genius namely Makoto Shinkai. It was famously said that most of the production was done by Makoto sensei himself including the voice over of the male protagonist.

It was a simple love story with a deeper questioning on time and space. Seems like Makoto sensei made most of his masterpiece questioning about this very subject.

The animations are simple in some part and some may thought the drawings were rough but when it comes to the mecha parts the animations goes into another much higher level.

The story starts with a young bright girl Mikako chosen to be involved in a revolutionary space exploration that separates her from her best friend Noboru.

Trying desperately to keep contact with Noboru she sends text messaging to him. Yet the farther she went into space the longer her message reaches Noboru. In the furthest space she misses Noboru and on Earth Noboru waits on her messages. A simple beautiful story told in two timelines.

It’s a poignant take on time and space and the two lives caught in between. Reminding me of one phrase that says “take a way time, all you have is now, take away space all you have is here.’

Another anime worth collecting for those who loved anime with deep insights. Though I would suggest it is one of the must see for all anime lovers.

Gensoumaden Saiyuki - The Anime Series

For those who are fangirls or fanboys, who are into implied Boys Love and Bishounen and were big fans of Weiss Kreuz, Gensoumaden Saiyuki doesn't need much of an introduction. In fact it was one of the most well known bishounen manga with huge fan base worldwide.

Gensoumaden Saiyuki or are loosely based on the famous Chinese mystical and spiritual tale of a high ranked Buddhist monk and his three inhuman followers in their journey to the west. The most famous is the Monkey God who appeared in many Chinese tales and legends. But the only similarities between the legend and Saiyuki are the fact there is a monk in the story and the they are all going to India in search of a scripture. Others delightful details are the sole creation of a famous bishounen and Boys Love sensei by the name of Kazuya Minekura.

Kazuya sensei is famous for her stylized drawings of bishounen and implied yaoi plot. Take note that I mentioned ‘she’ as many thought Kazuya is a guy. Some of her famous works includes Bus Gamer, Stigma and Wild Adapter.

Yet what put her on the world map, is the unlikely stories of four anti heroes. Genjyo Sanzo, a high ranked monk who smokes, drinks and kills with a gun. Son Goku, the monkey god also known as Saiten Taisei, neither human nor demon (youkai). Sha Gojyo, a playboy red head who is half human and half youkai. And Cho Hakkai, a seemingly mild mannered man with a dark past. Together with them is a young dragon named Hakuryu, pet of Cho Hakkai who are able to transform into a jeep.

The four them are thrown together by the instructions of a less merciful Goddess of Mercy to stop a mysterious uprising in the west that are turning youkai all over Tongekyo (Shangri-La) into brainless killers.

Thrown into the mix are Kougaiji, a youkai prince with his own three loyal followers including his younger sister, whose strength and appetite are able to compete with Goku.

And a perfect mysterious mad scientist as the main villain.

As the story revolves, so does the characters past are uncovered pieces by pieces. The unlikely camaraderie between the four actually started with the act of misdemeanor committed five hundreds years before. And this was explained in the manga Saiyuki Gaiden.

The anime started with its first season with Gensoumaden Saiyuki; which is by far the best series followed Reload and Reload Gunlock. The first series had a good plot with some episodes focusing on the characters dark sad past. The sense of melancholy are heavier on the first season. The appearance of the War God Homura and his own past also added more complexity into the storyline. Once in a while there are memorable comedic scenes between the characters.

Yet after the first season, spanning fifty episodes, the series has gone downward. Though not much can be said from the anime quality since the first season but at least the storyline was better. Luckily, the anime team decided to keep the original seiyuu team or the series would really disappoints its hardcore fans. There are some plots which are memorable including the appearance of a childish villain known only as Kamisama. And the ever funny end segments of Uru-Sai.

Reload Gunlock had good starts with a modified Kougaiji but it was a bit lame afterwards. Even with a very delicious looking bishounen added as a new protagonist it didn’t even perked the series at all. From here, it felt that Kazuya had lost interest with Saiyuki. Moreover, the quality of the anime seem to go downward as well.

As at the time this article was written, the anime series had ended with its third seasons. I have no knowledge of any new updates on the anime or any upcoming projects on Saiyuki. Though the Saiyuki team did comes up with a few OVAs which one of them should becomes a collectors item and another should be thrown in the dustbin and forgotten.

And lastly knowing one of the reason of a downward spiraling of Saiyuki is the fact that Kazuya sensei are sick and until now receiving treatment. Not much details on that as usually the life a manga sensei are kept under wrap unlike any other celebrities. Especially when it Kazuya Minekura was only an alias in the first place. There are updates in her official sites but as I couldn't actual read Kanji and Babel Fish translation jumbled the words.

I’m a huge fan of Saiyuki and that is the reason also for me being a bit critical on the anime. There are times the scenes falls into place and you could help but feel the very reason it was one of most known Bishonen themes anime internationally. And the best thing about the anime is the perfect choice of seiyuu as no other could bring the four characters alive especially the super talented uke voice of Akira Ishida who is behind Cho Hakkai.

Though the anime series and also manga seem to halt with some unanswered questions, fans of Saiyuki had evolved the series into hugely popular yaoi and shounen ai background. With many site hosting Saiyuki based fans fictions and art. Usually focusing on the supposedly love relationship between the four characters. Its ironic that, just like Weiss Kreuz, it is actually an anime series with no yaoi inclinations.

All and all it’s a good series for those who likes anime with not much of a plot but a good dose of comedic moments, some melancholy and once in while deliver some useful deep insights. A good watch with a young viewer as the anime was made much milder than the original manga that sometimes borders on eroticism.

Hopefully, Kazuya sensei would recover and decided to continue the series with better anime team. Till then, fangirls like me would wait patiently with batted breath.

One can’t help but to think that this is a cliché shoujo anime by looking at its trailer. Cute blonde girl with huge eyes and a cute way of talking plus the typical sailor themed school uniform. And add a seemingly useless guy wandering around.

Yet as the story revolves one can’t help but to agree with many anime fan that this one of the must watch anime. Prompting two episodes OVA titled as 'Air in Summer' depicting a story in another timeline that completes the whole series. And 'Air Memories' is a wrapped-up of all the episodes.

Personally I love this anime. Yes, I admit I do have a thing for Shoujo being a big fan of Sailor Uranus at one point of my life but Air stood out on its own. It’s an anime that you could laugh to and cried about. In some way it is quite simple yet provide a complexity that a more seasoned anime fan would enjoy. The animations are beautiful and simple. The theme followed the title itself, airy with the brightness of summer. And the characters are drawn based on the usual Shoujo style; big eyes, slim figure, long hair.

It started with an innocent meeting between a young rather naïve girl named Misuzu with a wandering puppeteer named Yukito who was broke and hungry. Lured by food and a temporary place to stay, Yukito followed Misuzu home. And that’s how he came to meet the people in Misuzu life and how their life interconnect with his lifelong quest to look for a ‘girl in the sky’.

It is a magical based anime but it’s not the typical good against evil or heavily coated love story. But it is a love story non the less. A love story that goes beyond time itself.

Sentimental viewers should expect a lot of tissues used by the end of the series. By and by its an anime series worth collecting.

Welcome to Anime Pink Panda!

This is my first entry into my blog ‘Anime Pink Panda’; a product from years of passionate embrace on all those things unreal, too real or I-wish-it-could-be-real Japanese animations. Though I called this ‘Anime Pink Panda’, I hope it would touch on everything related to Japanese Anime…meaning you’ll see stuff concerning manga, the sensei behind the story, seiyuu, cosplay and even some juicy news that I can dig up.

Why Pink Panda? I have no idea actually. Before this it was ‘Anime Fetish’, ‘Anime Talk’ and a few other names that stops me from starting this blog. And Anime Pink Panda just popped out of nowhere. Its like ‘Ting!’ and yeah that’s the one. Its just like falling in love at first sight, ei? Or maybe the name just made me go ‘Kyaaa!!!”

My aim is to make Anime Pink Panda both entertaining and useful; so be on the lookout for links where you can get free stuff or even join among the best anime groups on the net.
